Goals

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to Web services concepts. Students will learn practical Information and gain hands-on experience using many relevant technologies such as SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, SAAJ and Axis.
  • Understand core Web services concepts and how they relate to the Service Oriented Architecture model
  • Understand the SOAP message format
  • Understand how Web services are described using WSDL
  • Understand how information can be published and searched in a registry
  • Know how to create, deploy and invoke services using Axis
  • Learn about important security and interoperability considerations for Web services
