Introduction to Model Driven Architecture

Goals

This workshop provides information-system professionals with an overview of the Object Management Group’s Model Driven Architecture (MDA). MDA is a complex, yet powerful approach to developing extensible and maintainable systems. This lecture-only course provides an introduction to the foundational techniques and technologies underlying MDA, including meta-modeling, UML profiles, and the Meta Object Facility.

After completing this workshop, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the concepts and benefits of this next generation software engineering approach
  • Understand the state of Model Driven Architecture theory and its application
  • Understand the major extensions to UML and the capabilities they enable within MDA
  • Identify the key features of MDA tools and how they relate to software development projects

Audience

Software developers and architects who wish to utilize model driven architecture techniques. Managers with a strong programming background who will be managing a model driven architecture related project, or are considering using model driven architecture techniques on their project.

Prerequisites

The "Object Oriented Analysis and Design using UML" course, or equivalent experience is required.
